A widget is a small piece of a FameRace page that lives on another website: a blog, a company site, a portfolio, a press page, a fan page. It shows the name, the verified check, the rank, the audience and the verified accounts, and it links back to the page here.
Anyone can make one for any page published on FameRace: the owner putting their standing on their own site, or a fan putting a Boost button on theirs.
Getting the code
- Open the builder
On the page, open the ⋯ menu at the top and choose Widgets. The builder opens right over the page;
famerace.com/handle/widgetslands in the same place. - Pick a widget
Card is the full picture, for a sidebar or an about page. Bar is one row, for a header or a footer. Badge is a small pill that sits inside a sentence. Boost button opens the boost flow on your page, for fans and clients.
- Set the look
Choose Dark, Light, or Auto, which follows the visitor's system setting. Switch off any part you would rather not show. The preview is drawn by the same script your site will load, so what you see is what your visitors get.
- Copy and paste
Click Copy and paste the code wherever your site accepts HTML: a WordPress Custom HTML block, a Webflow Embed element, a Squarespace Code block, a Shopify theme section, or the HTML of a page you write yourself.
What the code is
The snippet is four lines: a <div> holding an ordinary link to your page, and one <script> tag.
The link is the important part. It is plain HTML on the host site, pointing straight at the FameRace page, with nothing that tells search engines to ignore it. A crawler that never runs JavaScript still sees it and counts it as a link from that site to the page. That is deliberate: an iframe would keep the link inside our page instead of theirs, where it counts for nothing.
The script only draws the picture. It fetches the current numbers from FameRace and paints the widget in its own isolated box, so the host site's styles cannot deform it and it cannot touch the site. If the script ever fails to load, the link stays, and it still works.
What it shows, and when
- Rank is the page's position in the Top by boosts when it has been boosted, otherwise its position by audience. Its best category position is shown next to it.
- Audience is the follower count across the page's accounts, added up.
- Boosts is the total the page has received. It is hidden while it is zero.
- Verified accounts are the icons of the page's linked accounts. The verified ones carry a check; the others are dimmed.
- Boost button draws as a badge if the page does not take boosts, and becomes a button as soon as it does.
Numbers refresh on their own: a visitor sees figures that are minutes old, not days. A page that has been suspended or removed shows the plain link and nothing else.
Changing a widget later
Edit the data- attributes on the <div> in the host page's HTML: data-type picks the widget, data-theme the theme, data-show the parts. You never need to copy the script tag again, and one script tag serves every widget on the page.
