    What is a boost?

A boost is real money pledged to a profile. Boost amounts add up over time and re-sort the leaderboard in Boosts mode.

    Updated October 5, 2026

A boost is a paid placement a viewer puts on a profile on FameRace, paid either by card or from a FameRace Wallet balance. Wallet balance cannot be bought; FameRace issues it at its own discretion. A profile's total is therefore not a record of money paid to FameRace. The pledged amount goes onto the profile as Total boosted, accumulates over time, and lets supporters push profiles up the leaderboard's Boosts mode.

Think of it as paid placement on a public ranking, not a tip jar – the money does not reach the profile. The profile sees that someone boosted them; the leaderboard shows the total boosted – a position paid for on FameRace’s own board, not an endorsement or a measure of community support.

    What boosts buy

    Two things:

    1. Visibility – Boosts mode on the leaderboard ranks profiles by total amount boosted instead of by Audience. A boost moves the profile up that list.
    2. Receipt – the boost is recorded permanently. Profiles see who boosted them (or that it was anonymous) and the amount.

A boost is not a tip the profile receives as income. FameRace keeps the boost; it doesn't pass through to the creator as a payment. The creator gets visibility on the leaderboard.

    How much can I boost?

Anything from $5 up to $100,000 – $5 is the minimum single boost, and $100,000 is the maximum for a single one. The cap is on one payment, not on a profile: you can boost the same profile as many times as you like and the amounts add up, so a total has no ceiling. Any page on FameRace can be boosted once it is complete enough to appear on the leaderboard (photo, headline, bio, at least one link and one category) – otherwise the boost is refused before any charge. Tax

Boosts are charged tax-inclusive. The amount you see at checkout is the amount you pay; FameRace absorbs sales tax / VAT on the boost itself.

"Total boosted" on a profile is the sum of every boost ever placed on it, in US dollars. It is a total of boosts, not a record of money FameRace was paid – a boost can be funded from a Wallet balance that FameRace issued rather than sold. It doesn't reset or decay; it only goes down if a boost is refunded – a partial refund removes just the refunded share.

    Refunds

Boosts are final once they're processed – but genuine billing problems are always corrected: a duplicate charge, a charge for the wrong amount, or a boost that was charged but never applied to the profile. Reach out to support before filing a chargeback. See refunds and disputes.
